Abstract Submission

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  1. All abstracts must be submitted according to the specified categories via the symposium website ONLY.

  2. Programme presenters are open for undergraduate students only.

  3. Abstract submitted via online form will be automatically edited according to the Biomed Symposium submission format. It is the author’s responsibility to proofread the abstract before completing submission.

  4. Abstracts for the Oral Presentation and Poster Presentation are limited to 300 words and must be submitted in English.

  5. Please provide three keywords representing the main content of the abstract.

  6. The abstract should not contain charts or graphics.

  7. The abstract submission deadline will be on the 5th April 2019.

  8. Please download and fill in the Abstract Submission Form and upload it ALONG with your abstract in the attachment box below.

Abstract Content

1. Authors and Affiliations: the first author listed must be the presenter in person. The author's name should be written in full. When more than one author is listed, use numbers to match authors and affiliations. Capitalise words only as required. The list of author names should be followed by the author’s institutions, city or state

2. Please make the abstract as informative as possible and support your conclusions with data. Abstracts should be structured to include the following four sections:

  • Objective

  • Design and methods

  • Results

  • Conclusion

3. Please use standard abbreviations, generic drug names, and place unusual abbreviations or acronyms in parentheses after first use.

Abstract Acceptance

  1. Abstract should strictly adhere to the guidelines stated.

  2. No limit will be imposed on the number of abstracts submitted by a participant. However, only ONE abstract is limited per registration (the presenting author). 

  3. Your submission and registration (payment) must be completed in order for your abstract to be considered for the symposium. 

  4. A confirmation of the receipt of abstract will be automatically sent to the submitter and the presenting author by e-mail upon completion of the online submission.

  5. Important information regarding the allocated session will be relayed to the presenting author and corresponding author. Thus, kindly ensure all information provided in the registration form and abstract is correct. 

  6. The acceptance of abstract will be notified by e-mail to the presenting author and correspondence author. 

  7. The Scientific Committee will determine whether the abstract will be accepted as an oral or poster presentation, with consideration given to author’s preference. 

  8. Upon acceptance of the abstract, the presenting author is expected to present the abstract at the Oral Presentation or Poster Presentation.

  9. Submission of abstract therefore constitutes the authors’ consent to have the abstract published in the full program booklet and website. Abstract may also be edited for publication.

Abstract Evaluation

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Programme Committee and successful delegates will be notified of their poster or oral presentation after the registration deadline.

Poster Presentation

Poster Presentation
  1. Presenters must dress formally for the presentation.

  2. The language for presentation is in English.

  3. The poster should be designed in portrait orientation.

  4. The size of a printed poster should be in A1 size: 23.39” x 33.11” or 594mm x 841mm.

  5. The poster should include the title, author, objective/introduction, methods, results, discussion, summary and acknowledgement.

  6. Each presenter is required to print out the poster.

  7. The maximum allocated time for presentation is 10 minutes.

  8. Prizes will be given to the three best posters from each category.

  9. Prize will be given to the BEST poster presenter.

Oral Presentation

Oral Presentation
  1. It is compulsory for presenters to dress formally.

  2. The language for presentation is in English. 

  3. The presentation slides must be prepared in Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation (saved in .ppt or .pptx format). 

  4. There is no fixed format for styles and arrangements of the presentation slides. However, it is a must to include title, research supervisor’s name, introduction, objectives, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion, references and acknowledgements in the slides. 

  5. The graphics projected on the screen are meant to support your spoken words. They should help to clarify ideas, emphasize key points, show relationships and provide the visual information so that your audiences understand your messages.

  6. Keep your visuals clear and simple. Simple graphs, charts and diagrams are recommended. Use a minimum of words for texts and title frames.

  7. The allocated time is 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A session.

  8. A timekeeper will be present to assist with the allocated time.

  9. All the presentation slide must be submitted to 10mysimbiosofficial@gmail.com by 24/4/2019 with the subject title of ORAL/10MYSYMBIOS/(UNIVERSITY’S NAME).

  10. Prizes will be given to the three best presenters from each category.

  11. Prize will be given to the BEST oral presenter.
